Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United American. In 2001, she founded The Corcoran Group in New York City. She later sold the business to NRT for $66 millions. In the following months she left the company. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. In February of 2020 Corcoran was involved in 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 investment which covered 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second child of ten in a Catholic Irish working class family. Florence Corcoran's mother was a housewife. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. moved from job to job during Corcoran's early years. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran recalls her father as a man who often was a drinker and did her mother a disservice and sneer, especially after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled at school and later learned that she had dyslexia. Corcoran went to a Catholic primary school within her community and began high school in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was a failure in many classes during her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
